The Ukraine Crisis Response Team in Poland: A Spotlight Documentary
Client
OM in Poland is part of Operation Mobilisation - an international organization engaged in humanitarian work, community support, and global mission initiatives. OM runs self‑help groups, medical outreaches, art and sports projects, and programs in education and micro‑entrepreneurship. The team in Poland supports people with refugee experience and those at risk of marginalization, helping them build stability, dignity, and new opportunities.
Main Goal
The main goal of the campaign is to inspire people to volunteer and support the Response Team - a group providing weekly psychosocial, educational, and integration activities for Ukrainian refugees in accommodation centres around Warsaw. By highlighting the team’s cross‑cultural work, flexible crisis response, and the impact of more than 300 volunteers who have already served thousands, the campaign aims to show how essential and meaningful this support is for children and adults rebuilding their lives.
Behind the Process
• The Response Team continued its work throughout the entire week of filming, so our crew had to seamlessly blend into their daily rhythm - documenting everything without disrupting the flow of their important service.
• We filmed in multiple locations across several accommodation centres, each with its own atmosphere and community dynamics.
• Authenticity was essential. Most of the footage was documentary‑style: real interactions, real emotions, real moments of empathy and support - not staged heroism, but genuine, everyday care.
• For me personally, this project carried deep meaning. I strongly resonate with the values behind this work and with the people who dedicate themselves to it..
• We collaborated with an international team, filming mostly in English.
• A key priority was preserving the dignity of those living in difficult circumstances. We were careful not to portray anyone as “miserable,” but instead to show strength, resilience, and the humanity of their stories.
RESULT
The final film inspired hundreds of people from around the world to come to Warsaw and join a week‑long volunteer program.
This project wasn’t about “saving the world,” but about highlighting simple, intentional acts of kindness that help people find their footing in a new country.
